VT-wonen & Designbeurs

Trend 2.

Trend 3.

I love it!

This week I visited the VT-wonen&Design fair at RAI Amsterdam. Ervery year I'll visit this fair to see if there are some nice trends, inspiration and new brands. To be honest I found it a bit disappointing for me as a stylist. This fair is now made for the consumer and not that inspiring for me anymore but there where a few trends I'd like to share with you.

Trend1Green. You must have plants or other living greens in your home, patterns of leaves, hanging planters in a bunch together in your livingroom and cactee. A must have that is still going strong. And as you know I love my greens, so I won't complain about the plant trend that is still there.

Trend2 Art. Art is important in your home to give it a personal touch. It will grow out to be a much bigger trend because people want to make their homes personal. Art will be more affordable so everybody can pick there style and mix a few artworks together to make their home a gallery with personality.

Trend3 Gold. Gold is the new metalic trend, after silver in the '90 's/ early '00 and copper in the last 4 years we're ready for something new. To be honest I never liked the red copper trend, I prefer the gold and brass look much more. So I love it!

Trend4 Ceramics with a vintage look. Everybody has a few vases or objects in ceramics. This trend is coming from the vintage homes and people who have real vintage ceramics in their homes. Because the original east german objects are rare, expensive and hard to find if you don't know where to look this trend is nice.

Happy planters...

English summary:
Iam very happy to say that my planters are finally ready. A few week ago I started working on two planters for my plants on my ceramics course. I learned how to use a potterswheel and create beautiful vases, mugs and pots from a lump of clay.

It took a while to finnish them, the course is only once a week and every week you do one part of the process to create the finished project. I started with the shape. A week later when the clay is dry but still flexible you finish the bottom and make the holes on top. After air drying you can carefully sand the pot and put it in the oven to bake. After baking you can add the glaze and then bake again for the product to be finished.

The result is so good and my planters are hanging happy in the window with the plants in them. They look awesome!

That's what makes me happy!
